*Snip Snip Snip* Gone.

I've always wondered if my ability to instantly detach from people and things emotionally makes me a psychopath. I've gone through some pretty shitty mental health periods in the last 5 years which resulted in me cutting a lot of people out of my life for no good reason. Yet, now mental health things are in the clear (happy pills are working!), but I still find myself easily detaching. I first noticed this ability with my first ex. I thought it made sense though because we were long-ish distance and he didn't visit me very often. Once we broke up, I didn't feel a need to talk to him at all... it was just *snip snip snip* gone. I remember talking about my weird abilities with the next guy and him saying something along the lines of, "oh okay, I hope that doesn't happen to me...". Well. Uh. Apparently that's just what I do. I've been trying to figure out if this makes me an asshole or if I'm processing the breakup or loss in a different way. ...

Chair Dancing Cutie - Emotionally Unavailable Radar

Good morning! Or night. Or afternoon. Good day! You might have noticed that I'm not your usual Lavender Lady. My penname is Chair Dancing Cutie, and I will be posting periodically as a guest blogger on Unlucky in Love. So without further ado, let's talk... High school relationships rarely work out. I knew that when I began entertaining the idea of starting one. But, as my last year closed in and prom and my last summer before university was approaching, I threw caution to the wind. Two months later and I thoroughly regretted my decision. Being ghosted is not fun. Is it cliche to say that this epic disaster influenced my next relationship? Probably. Is it truthful? 100%. Needless to say, my next, and first real, relationship was rocky. Neither of us had been in a healthy one before, and it was like the blind leading the blind. Honestly, we weren't compatible... in any part of the relationship. And yet, it continued for almost a year. I probably should've just let i...

The Impulse Decision: Small Town Boy

Throw back to the first post about that impulse decision that completely changed everything: let's talk about what I actually meant. ***Warning - you may get more information about my sex life than you wanted. So around Easter, I broke up with the dude I thought I was going to marry (yeah I'm really bad at assuming that's always going to happen - you don't date to break up though right?) Anyway, I'm living in a super small town, 5 hours from where I call home. My intention for the rest of the term was to just work on me, try to nail the end of my work-term, and get ready for the school term. It was my second last weekend in this small town, and I was working a Saturday to make sure I finished my project on time. I come home around 9 pm, exhausted, with the full intention of making myself a damn chick pea salad and watching some Netflix. Earlier in the day, my landlady had told me that her son and some of his friends were planning to crash at the house that nig...

The Beginning

Well hello friends! Welcome to my blog, Unlucky in Love. I'm a recently single University student trying to understand what I want in my love life and with everything that's happened - I need a medium to vent through. For a little bit of a backstory, I started my first long term relationship in grade 11. That lasted for 3 years, and I started dating someone else almost immediately afterwards. That relationship lasted for another year and a half (quite the rebound right?). It's now been almost 2 months since I broke up with the last guy and since then have had countless dates and hookups. I used to be that girl that waited for an emotional connection to have sex. I judged people who hooked up, I just didn't get it. It's funny how making one impulse decision completely changes everything. I also always used to be very quiet about my personal life. Now I find myself telling everyone I meet about my adventures on Tinder. Who am I? Take me 3 years back and I wouldn...
